The person behind BBS
I started my career as an IT consultant and quickly realised something that should be obvious but often isn't: most IT projects don't struggle because of the technology. They struggle because the people building the technology and the people who need to use it aren't speaking the same language.
That gap became my focus. Over the past four years, working with organisations including a central bank, a major pension fund, a national energy company, and a financial crime department at one of the Netherlands' largest banks, I've spent my time in exactly that space. Making sure the business is actually heard. Making sure the technology actually fits.
BBS is the formalisation of that focus. A solo consultancy, deliberately kept lean, where I take on work that I'm genuinely the right person for: Power Platform implementations with real process grounding, process redesign before the development starts, and the alignment work that makes both possible.
I'm currently pursuing an MSc in Digital Business Transformation at the Open Universiteit, because this field keeps moving and I intend to keep moving with it.
De persoon achter BBS
Ik ben mijn loopbaan begonnen als IT-consultant en merkte al snel iets op dat voor de hand zou moeten liggen maar dat vaak niet is: de meeste IT-projecten mislukken niet door de technologie. Ze mislukken omdat de mensen die de technologie bouwen en de mensen die hem moeten gebruiken niet dezelfde taal spreken.
Die kloof werd mijn focus. In de afgelopen vier jaar, bij organisaties zoals een centrale bank, een groot pensioenfonds, een nationaal energiebedrijf en een afdeling Financial Crime bij een van de grootste banken van Nederland, heb ik mijn tijd besteed aan precies die ruimte. Zorgen dat de business werkelijk gehoord wordt. Zorgen dat de technologie werkelijk past.
BBS is de formalisering van die focus. Een eenmanszaak, bewust lean gehouden, waar ik opdrachten aanneem waarvoor ik werkelijk de aangewezen persoon ben: Power Platform implementaties met echte proceskennis als fundament, procesherontwerp vóórdat de development begint, en het alignment-werk dat beide mogelijk maakt.
Momenteel volg ik een MSc Digital Business Transformation aan de Open Universiteit, want dit vakgebied beweegt mee en ik ben van plan hetzelfde te doen.

If a technology doesn't fit your problem, I'll say so. If a process needs to change before any software is built, I'll say that too. Good consultancy starts with an honest diagnosis, not a predetermined solution.
Als een technologie niet bij jouw probleem past, zeg ik dat. Als een proces veranderd moet worden voordat er ook maar software gebouwd wordt, zeg ik dat ook. Goede consultancy begint met een eerlijke diagnose, niet met een vooraf bepaalde oplossing.

The best solution is the one that works, gets adopted, and can be maintained. Elegant architecture that nobody uses is a failed project. I build for the people who will actually use it.
De beste oplossing is de oplossing die werkt, wordt geadopteerd en beheerd kan worden. Elegante architectuur die niemand gebruikt is een mislukt project. Ik bouw voor de mensen die het daadwerkelijk gaan gebruiken.
Business-first
Business eerst
IT exists to support the business. That sounds obvious, in practice, it often gets reversed. Every technical decision I make is tested against what the business actually needs to achieve.
IT bestaat om de business te ondersteunen. Dat klinkt vanzelfsprekend, in de praktijk wordt het vaak omgekeerd. Elke technische beslissing die ik maak wordt getoetst aan wat de business daadwerkelijk moet bereiken.

Solutions should outlast the project. I document properly, build for maintainability, and make sure teams are capable of owning what we build together, not dependent on me returning every six months.
Oplossingen moeten het project overleven. Ik documenteer goed, bouw met onderhoudbaarheid in gedachten, en zorg dat teams in staat zijn eigenaar te zijn van wat we samen bouwen, niet afhankelijk van mijn terugkeer elke zes maanden.
Where BBS is going
BBS is in its early stage, deliberately. I'm building it the way I think good software should be built: understand the problem before writing the solution, get the foundation right before scaling.
The direction is clear: growing toward a solution architecture practice, where the work is less about building individual solutions and more about designing the systems that make organisations genuinely more capable. Helping businesses not just adopt technology, but become better at using it over time.
That's a journey. For now, BBS takes on work where I can add real value, and that's enough.
Waar BBS naartoe gaat
BBS is in een vroeg stadium, bewust. Ik bouw het zoals ik denk dat goede software gebouwd zou moeten worden: het probleem begrijpen voordat de oplossing geschreven wordt, het fundament goed leggen voordat er geschaald wordt.
De richting is helder: groeien naar een solution architecture praktijk, waarbij het werk minder gaat over het bouwen van individuele oplossingen en meer over het ontwerpen van de systemen die organisaties echt capabeler maken. Bedrijven helpen technologie niet alleen te adopteren, maar er ook steeds beter mee te worden.
Dat is een reis. Voor nu neemt BBS werk aan waar ik echte waarde kan toevoegen, en dat is genoeg.
